Check Positive Pay is an automated fraud detection tool offered by our Treasury Management Team. This business service helps detect posting errors and uncover potential check fraud, helping our business clients avoid unnecessary losses and liabilities for the company.
How It Works
When a business enrolls in Check Positive Pay, they will have the ability through Business Online Banking to upload a simple file of approved checks. This list is most often issued daily, accounting for checks issued by the business in the previous 24-hour period. Single checks can also be entered manually in Business Online Banking.
Then, whenever a check is presented to the Bank for payment, Check Positive Pay compares them against the business’s approved list of issued checks. An automated system matches the check number and dollar amount of the check to verify that all information is consistent.
If discrepancies appear, the Bank will send an exception alert to the business so that suspicious items can be examined and verified. If an error or fraudulent check has been presented, the company can return the check before it posts to their account, thereby saving their business from potential loss. The Bank will process items based on a payment option pre-selected by the business.
